Upon graduating from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, I began freelancing as a painter / illustrator for various publications, institutions, and environmental organizations. Eventually integrating private commissioned art in portraits, murals and restoration work using a variety of mediums including oils, pen and ink, pencil, guache, dyes and water color pencils. An attempt to merge my creativity with a more spiritual sensibility, rather than a purely visual one, has proven to be a long-term challenge of mine. Recently this goal has begun to resolve itself and is yielding results in the form of 'Soul Portraits'. Unlike traditional portraits, the focus of this work lies in seeing beyond the physical form of each individual. Connecting with Spirit, I am able to view an overlay of ones energy body and record certain internal aspects that need to be acknowledged by the sitter at that present time. When each portrait is viewed in its completed state, the subject is brought to a place of greater introspection and heightened self awareness. Overall this work sets in motion an alignment occurring between one's physical and etheric bodies. A healing is provided in this way, connecting the individual more in-depthly to their own soul’s purpose.
